5 THINGS TO DO WHILE IN YOUR PERIOD IN RAMADAN.

5 THINGS TO DO WHILE IN YOUR PERIOD IN RAMADAN.

The beloved month filled with bounties is upon us. Alhamdulillah.

Muslims all around the world are staying away from food and water for twenty nine or thirty days. But for Muslim Women and girls, we miss some days to observe our monthly period or postpartum for new mothers. Allah asks us to abstain from prayer and obligatory acts of worship in this period.

‘A’isha reported: If one amongst us had to break fasts (of Ramadan due to natural reasons, i. e. menses) during the life of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) she could not find it possible to complete them so long as she had been in the presence of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) till Sha’ban commenced.

Sahih Muslim(The Book of Fasting) Reference : Sahih Muslim 1146 e

This does not in anyway make us less fortunate or discriminated against. There is wisdom behind everything Allah asks of us and as believers ,we say, ” We hear and we obey”,He is all wise.

In this post, I share with you some things I do in my time of the month. These tips also work for people who have a health condition and need to abstain from fasting.

  • Zikr, Zikr and more Zikr: I make wudhu ( the trick is to do this when its time for Salah) and recite some Zikr. Say, Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allah Akbar, Laa ilaaha illalah. Maa sha Allah It feels so good especially when you don’t rush through and ponder over the meaning of what you are saying.

Listen to islamic lectures: I usually revisit videos or listen to podcasts that I really love and make me feel connected to Allah.Check out our post on apps you should install on your phone.https://www.themodestcode.com/2020/04/17/top-five-mobile-apps-for-muslims/

Read Islamic books: If you prefer reading, find an islamic book or stay glued to an islamic book you already have(finish that book).

  • Prepare the household for Suhur and Iftar: This is a norm but when in that time of the month,I prepare the time consuming dishes and go the extra mile for my family on what they want to eat.

Introspection: I sit by myself and think of life in general and random things that uplift my soul.

It is easy to take a break from acts of Ibaadah and shaitan will whisper to you to keep you idle.

So when you feel cramps, perform wudhu, take your meds and do any of the above .But if you truly cannot due to the pain during the early days, my sister rest and do it when you can.

Our beloved mother Aisha (r.a) advised women not to rush to take the ritual bath.

Take note, After seeing the brownish discharge ,make sure you wait for no discharge before taking your ritual bath. Most sisters try to rush through to catch up with Ramadan. if you do this, you may take your bath before your period comes to an end. Making that day(s) of fast null.

May Allah facilitate khair.

P.s. I truly appreciate the longing to finally prostrate to my Rabb when my period comes to an end.
